UNILORIN Announces Phased Physical Resumption

The management of the University of Ilorin, on Friday, has announced a phased reopening of the institution for academic activities beginning from January 25 This was contained in a press statement by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, titled, ‘Phased resumption of classes’, on Friday. Over 10,000 security personnel deployed for Kano LG poll

No fewer than 10,000 security personnel have been deployed for the local government council election in Kano scheduled for Saturday Among them are 7,251 police officers, Kano State Police Commissioner, Habu Sani, disclosed on Thursday. Sani, in a statement by spokesman, Abdullahi Haruna, said the security personnel will be in all the 8,084 polling stations of the 747 wards of the 44 councils of the state during the election. "Adequate security arrangements have been put in place to ensure peaceful conduct of the election," he said. The police chief restricted the movement of vehicles, tricycles and motorbikes from 12:pm on Friday until 6:pm Saturday. Kwara Gov launches 10-year agric transformation plan

•NEPAD, govt to spend $2bn to boost food security  •Plan, a product of consultations: Farmers’ body     Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Friday launched a 10-year Agricultural Transformation Plan, which is designed to ensure food security, generate employment opportunities, and reduce poverty rate.   The plan is hinged in six pillars of crop production, finance, livestock, access to market, value chain, and cross-cutting programmes, the Governor said at the launch of the document in Ilorin, the state capital.    AbdulRazaq said the document comes with measurable milestones to ensure faithful implementations by all the stakeholders involved. All GSP and EEP Courses will now be Offered Online - BUK

In view of the drive by the University to adhere to the Covid-19 guidelines set by the Presidential Taskforce on COVID, the Bayero University Senate has directed that all GSP and EEP courses for the first semester of the 2019/2020 Academic Session should be offered online. Students registered for these courses are advised to follow the procedures below to access their courses. Step 1 Visit the University website; under the Quick Links, click on Online Courses Step 2 On the online courses portal, select your registered course under Available Courses. Step 3 The login screen then appears; enter your registration portal username and password. Please note: These are the same username and password used during the registration exercise. BUK Directs Staff, Students to Resume on Monday Jan 18 2021,distribute covid 19 preventive protocols to public places.

Bayero University, Kano has confirmed Monday, 18th January, 2021 as the resumption date for academic activities and directed all staff and students to comply. The University had earlier directed staff on grade level 11 and below to work from home and resume work on 18th January, 2021. A statement issued on Friday, 15th January, 2021 by the Registrar, Fatima Binta Mohammed, said academic activities would fully commence on the said date, urging students to resume back to the University. She said the University has prepared for the re-opening and that all measures of covid-19 protocols have been taken. According to the Registrar, the University has complied with the directives given by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu that all tertiary institutions should reopen on 18th Januray, 2021. BREAKING: Former Bauchi lawmaker, Ningi, kidnapped

A former member of the Bauchi Assembly, Abdulmumuni Ningi, has been abducted by gunmen. The Nation gathered he was whisked away by gunmen around 8:00pm on Thursday within Bauchi metropolis. Confirming the incident to newsmen on Friday, Bauchi police spokesman ,DSP Ahmed Wakili, said the command reliably gathered Ningi was trailed by his four abductors. They were said to have driven in a gold coloured car with which he was trailed to his house around the BSADP area at Isa Yuguda Guest House. He added that the kidnappers, who were fully armed with guns, seized their victim and drove away with him in the car they brought . FG SPEAKS ON FRESH LOCKDOWN.

The Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 has told Nigerians to ignore rumours of fresh lockdown alert in circulation on social media. PTF National Coordinator, Dr Sani Aliyu, said this in a short video released on Thursday. The rumour started following the emergence of a purported WhatsApp message from a member of the PTF, which claimed there will be a total lockdown in Nigeria from next week. But Dr Aliyu has now insisted that the federal government was aware of the economic implication of a fresh lockdown. He said, "We are aware of a fake message on WhatsApp that we've declared a lockdown in the country. This is absolutely not true. I call on the Nigerian public to please ignore this message and continue with normal activities.
