SOKOTO STATE GOVERNMENT ENROLL 75,000 CHILDREN IN SCHOOL.

Sokoto state  government under the Better Education Service Delivery Agency (BESDA) programme has enrolled  over seventy-five thousand children into basic schools in the state last year. Similarly, this year, the state government, under the programme, targets over 90,000 children for enrollment. Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal stated this Wednesday at the official flag-off of BESDA enrolment drive for the year 2020/21. According to Gov. Tambuwal under the programme, over 1,513 integrated Quranic Schools have been created just as teachers have been recruited and provided with books as well as instructional materials. The governor added that since inception of the present administration, education has been given utmost priority through the allocation of higher percentage in budgetary allocation. According to him various programmes have been introduced aimed at improving educational development in the state and assured that, his administration will continue to invest in education....

KWARA STATE GOVERNMENT APPROVE RESUMPTION DATE

Kwara State: Schools Begin Second Term 18th January, 2021 The Kwara State Government has announced 18th January, 2021 as the beginning of second term academic session for primary and secondary schools in the state. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, made this known during the Education Stakeholders meeting held at the Ministry’s Headquarters on Thursday. According to her, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved 18th January, 2021 as the official commencement date of 2020/2021 second term academic session in the state. She further reminded them that safety guidelines of Covid-19 should be strictly adhered to in all schools in the state.  In her words, "nobody should enter the school premises without a facemask. Any school that does not comply with NCDC and Federal Ministry of Education guidelines will face appropriate sanctions". FG APPROVE JANUARY 18 FOR SCHOOL RESUMPTION

The Federal Government has given the nod for schools to resume on January 18 after reaching consensus with Governors, Commissioners and other stakeholders. The consensus was reached at a meeting between the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu and Commissioners of Education in Abuja. The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education, Arc. Sonny Echono, who confirmed this to THE NATION, said: "We have had extensive discussions with state governors, proprietors of schools, labour /staff unions and students' representatives. And the consensus is that we should reopen all schools. But the reopening of schools will be in compliance with COVID-19 protocols, especially strict adherence to non-pharmaceutical procedures.” Details shortly... Source: The Nation
